For those of us who have found that Canadian coins don't show up as reliably/cleanly as American coins, here's some info that explains content

Garrett Infinium or Fisher Gold Bug 2

I've been doing some research into getting a detector for my next years prospecting venues on my claims in the Tulameen, Champion Creek, Illal Creek claims and a couple of partnered claims on Last Chance Creek in Quesnel area.

Since we know that black sand accompanies AU, I'm would only like to use these detectors to locate black sand and AU only. I'm not interested in looking for coins, relics rings or anything else that one may use these detectors for, just black sand...

Hi folks,

Just returned from a few hours out with the new metal detector at a local creek I have just found.
Late last year I bought a Whites GMT detector and have really only played with it around the house until today.

First I tried panning but did no good. Then used the detecor to find the black sands buried beneath the light coloured sand. That seemed to work fine so I just carried on using it and found several pieces of steel (creek must have been pretty well...

Anyone in B.C using a Minelab PI

Im just wondering if anyone is having any luck with the GPX4500 in B.C. Im looking for a good detector for gold. Maybe the GPX series isnt really needed in B.C.

Ok, now those of you who know me, know I'm not keen on woody's hacks but he has a good point with this particular issue.... his other video on this topic caught my attention as well... this is pretty sad for a machine we pay almost $5,000 for....

I'm not trying to start a debate over Minelabs service, we already have that drama on some of the Aussie boards I'm on... I'm only providing these link so you all can (if you dare) crack er open and make sure you...

hey everyone,i got a question about the gold bug2.i see everyone puts the gb2 in the VLF catagory, and VLF stands for very low frequency does it not?but isnt the whole point of this machine that it operates on the highest frequency? making it a VHF? haha your thots on that will be appreciated.
and another thing. i read as much as i can about nugget shooting and i read alot about the null point of a detector.can you find the null point with a gb2? or is this a garret thing?

I just made myself look like a wimp to a genuine metal detectorist with a $5000 Minelab unit. All he wanted was to detect on a placer claim, in the Cariboo, which he is familiar with, while I am totally clueless of the ground, having just staked the claim, online. Initially, I thought it was an excellent idea that I give him total access to the claim, of which I'll have little chance of visiting, at all, this season. Just ordered a new nugget sniper. Its the Garrett Infinium LS Metal Detector. PI type.

Did quite a bit of research before laying out the cash. Looks like a really decent unit. Also ordered the 3" x 7" DD Coil, that provides enhanced detection of those smaller targets & nuggies.

Also ordered the underwater headphones and assessory kit. I see there have been a few posts on the forum about the machine, which I'll look further into.
