Without an FMC a person is called a Recreational Handpanner. If a claim owner is prepared to assume all responsibilty for you and your activitites, I suppose you could work without an FMC. That's the only way you can mine or prospect without an FMC. As a claim owner I always worked with FMC holders. We never risked working without one. Just the process of getting an FMC brings new people close to the literature, information and regulations concerning mining and prospecting, in BC. A claim...

A wise person once said "To make a small fortune by gold mining all you have to do is start with a large fortune".
Practically - you have to have great ground to make wages by hand mining, it is hard to move shovelful after shovelful for days on end just to buy kraft dinner and weiners. Most hand miners snipe or illegally dredge to put gold in their pan but then again you have to work where the gold is.

If it was easy I would be at my winter estate in Costa Rica...

Well I am into it for the fun and all I want to see right now is that funny little yellow stuff. I will dig for free in trade getting some lessons and will only go with the people that know what there doing. I will get all my licenses so there will be no problems with the law. Well........lets see.......if bacon an beans sound good an you have no women stuck to your side an ya like the idea of liven out of A camper an you only get what ya dig out with no guaranty of what you'll find then - hell ya................if I had no wife an kids I'd be liven out in the bush diggen shaft after shaft but I also have some claims that have panned out enough for me to take the risk an may pay off.........an for sure enough to buy next seasons bacon an beans...

I think it would be a good idea to get a few lone prospectors together and work an area. Many hands make light work and this is supposed to be for fun as well as chasing the mother lode.

I'm open to working pretty much anywhere in BC and I'm open to suggestions. My mining experience is limited to recreational sluicing and panning. I've done a tonne of research over the years.
