Hahaha, good point. I'm trying to cover my bases before I head out in the bush and ask all these questions beforehand. I did observe that anyone with 25$
can be issued a FMC. So yes, it appears that knowledge may not be a prerequisite. I certainly thank everyone who responded to my original post and still would
love to work with someone that has the knowledge. At the same time, I'm more then willing to step out there and get my feet wet and try my hand at placer

Re: FMC and hand panning

Used to be you carried your FMC in your back pocket 'cause it gave you a right to be in the bush, on private property etc. Not any more - you just need it
to aquire cells, leases or legacy claims and you also need it to record your work and pay your fees. When a claim (cell) owner gives somebody a right to work
his or her property he or she still holds the responsibility of what gets done on that property - no matter what the work permit says. You have...

Without an FMC a person is called a Recreational Handpanner. If a claim owner is prepared to assume all responsibilty for you and your activitites, I suppose
you could work without an FMC. That's the only way you can mine or prospect without an FMC. As a claim owner I always worked with FMC holders. We never
risked working without one. Just the process of getting an FMC brings new people close to the literature, information and regulations concerning mining and
prospecting, in BC. A claim...

A wise person once said "To make a small fortune by gold mining all you have to do is start with a large fortune".
Practically - you have to have great ground to make wages by hand mining, it is hard to move shovelful after shovelful for days on end just to buy kraft dinner
and weiners. Most hand miners snipe or illegally dredge to put gold in their pan but then again you have to work where the gold is.
