Posts: 42 (03/28/09 09:36:35) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	Tags : artesian, mineral, spring, water hay fellow miners, i could use some of your advise. i know where there is a artesain spring , i would like to get it tested, but for now i have been drinking the water. do you think it is safe to drink befor i test it. the reason i ask is the water flows from a quartz vein. steping back from the spring, you can see the quarts zein. steping about 150 feet in the rock pitt the water again flows from the quartz vein. the quartz vein is clearly visible , it has loads of pyrite in it, this is my concern, the spring comes from a water sourse about 6 miles away, could it be toxic flowing past all the minerals. if any one wants to see it ,pm me and ill tell you where it is, its prity cool. Posts: 43 (03/29/09 07:01:10) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	i know there is arsnic where the blue ground is, but that is on a diferent shear that crosses the spring shere. the pyrrite is definitly chalchol pyrite and does not have the smell assocoated with arsnic. as for destroying it, guys have been trying to do it for years but the water never stops. I am hopeing the vein is minable but as for the mineral water, go buy a bottle of mineral water at the store, its cheaper to by gas. the excivator took more rock from the pitt for road work, wow talk about exposing the mineral potentail of the vein.. I would use caution drinking any water comming out of a vein containing pyrites as they contain sulfides. ie heavy metals easely desolved in water.

Be sure to wash your hands before you eat, or stick your hands in your mouth etc. The piece that he gave me has visible gold in it.

"When deposits of arsenopyrite become exposed to the atmosphere, usually due to mining, the mineral will slowly oxidize, converting the arsenic into oxides that are more soluble in water, leading to acid mine drainage."
