What is the best recovery system? Anyone want to give their opinion? Jigs, Sluice, Vibrating ect. I'm looking for something that can adapt to different
size gold. 10-30yrds per hour.

Meke: I'm screening to 1/4 in. minus on my small trommel. Get good recovery to 100mesh+. Testing shows only less than 2% 100-,so I'm not to concerned
about it. Using a sluice. I have seen trommels in the 50cy/hr. range using up to four progressive screen sizes for differant size gold with a seperate sluice
for each screen. They claim to be getting 98% recovery with this system, but it does require a large volume of water. Ted

Hi Ted
I use a sluice too, so far. I feel I may be missing out if I don't get as many opinions as possible. The sluice system I am using was supposed to pick up 100 mesh but with some tests and by seeing gold close to the bottom of my sluice I feel I am losing too much. I also feel I spend too much time cleaning matting and doing clean-outs. 12 hours per cleanout. clean-outs are every 150 yrds and I should be doing it sooner as my sluice gets full of blacksand. As you know, doing a clean-out is time consuming not to mention the concentrate time. At the moment I use 2 spiral wheels. Also if I want to see what my grades are I have to wait three days to get results. I was lucky enough to see a great system running this summer. The miners were kind enough to run around 20 bank yards while we were there. Within an hour after they finished, we spent time talking and looking around during that time, they had the results of what they just ran. They used a 42 'jig system for primary recovery and a cleanup jig for secondary recovery. With a vibrating table for final recovery. That was great! Soo I am pretty much sold on that type of system but I want to know what else is out there. My eyes are wide open now that I have seen what they have. Ken |

Ken: I have a small hand fed trommel with a Knutson Bowl. It screens to 6mesh-, and I run my concentrates through it, This way I can concentrate several
hundred pounds of sluice cleen-up to about one pan full. There are several kinds of concentrating bowls. Might be worth looking in to. Ted

You can't beat pulsating jigs. They are the best for the money as far as I am concerned.
